IlimSeverLes to invest RUR 5 million in reforestation in 2005

IlimSeverLes (Arkhangelsk region, Russia, Kotlasskaya group of timber enterprises owned by Ilim Pulp) will invest RUR 5 million in reforestation, corporate spokesperson told Lesprom.ru. In 2004 IlimSeverLes timber enterprises produced timber worth a total of RUR 4 million. Various reforestation projects were carried out on the territory of 10 thousand hectares. In 2005 the planting of new trees will be carried out on the territory of 11.5 thousand hectares. The current reforestation projects were agreed with the Arkhangelsk region and Komi Republic agency on timber sector. The implementation of selective logging methodics is constantly on the rise. In 2004 10% of the overall volume of timber was produced using this method, in 2005 this figure will be raised to 15-20%. In 2005 clearance logging will reach 10% of the total amount of produced timber.
