On March 5, 2025, the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) joined a coalition backing the Protecting American Industry and Labor from International Trade Crimes Act. KCMA CEO Betsy Natz attended a press conference alongside congressional leaders, including Chairman John Moolenaar and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi, to announce the bill’s introduction.

The bipartisan legislation aims to strengthen enforcement against trade violations such as transshipment, duty evasion, and the use of forced labor, particularly in response to long-standing issues with Chinese imports. The bill seeks to provide the Department of Justice with the necessary resources to fully implement trade policies, ensuring accountability for unfair practices that impact American industries.

Krishnamoorthi highlighted the economic toll of trade fraud, stating that violations by the Chinese Communist Party have caused job losses and disrupted U.S. manufacturing. Natz emphasized that the domestic kitchen cabinet industry has faced continuous trade fraud for five years. Through the American Kitchen Cabinet Alliance (AKCA), KCMA has successfully litigated a major trade case proving industry-wide damage from unfair imports.

Despite multiple victories in investigations under the Enforce and Protect Act (EAPA), Natz criticized Customs and Border Protection (CBP) leadership for overturning favorable rulings. She called for equipping the Department of Justice and CBP with resources to enforce trade laws and swiftly penalize fraudulent practices.

The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA), a longstanding representative of kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers along with key industry suppliers, has been diligently compiling and reporting industry sales data for over 40 years.
