Meltz Lumber joins NRLA and ENYLDA

Northeastern Retail Lumber Association (NRLA) and the Eastern New York Lumber Dealers Association (ENYLDA) would like to welcome new retail member, Meltz Lumber of Mellenville, Inc. located in Hudson, New York.

Meltz Lumber of Mellenville, Inc. was begun by Emil Meltz, Sr. in 1946, producing 2,500 board feet per day with a handset sawmill powered by a car engine. They are currently a third-generation company, producing 16,000 board feet of hardwoods per day utilizing computerized circular and band saws. Meltz Lumber produces four million board feet of lumber per year. Most of the lumber is exported to foreign markets and is available for retail purchase.

The Meltz family started Ghent Wood Products in September 2003, following the purchase of Tipple Logging & Lumber. Ghent Wood Products currently produces 2 million board feet of soft woods, pine, and hemlock per year. Ghent Wood Products produces both standard and custom-sized pine and hemlock boards and beams, finished lumber including S4S in various sizes, paneling, siding, and flooring. They also carry kiln-dried hardwoods.

NRLA is an 1,160 member association representing independent lumber and building material suppliers and associated businesses in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and the six New England states.
