Södra is Sweden’s largest forest owners’ association, representing more than 50,000 family forest owners. The cooperative has now completed the sale of its entire forest holdings in Latvia and Estonia to Ingka Group’s investment arm, Ingka Investments, according to Södra.
The agreement between Södra and Ingka Investments has been approved and finalised following competition reviews by local authorities in both Baltic countries. The transaction, valued at Euro 720 million, was initially agreed in October 2025 and is now concluded.
Södra decided in early 2025 to sell its Baltic forest assets to strengthen its long-term competitiveness and balance sheet while focusing operations on its members’ forests in southern Sweden.
Chief Executive Officer Lotta Lyrå said the sale aligns with Södra’s mission to create value from members’ forests in southern Sweden and contributes to financial strength for both current and future members.
The impact of the sale on Södra’s financial results will be reported in the first quarter of 2026. Following the sale, Södra’s operations in the Baltics consist of two timber import companies, one in Latvia and one in Estonia.
