Starting from October this year, Segezha Group's Vyatsky Plywood Mill will deliver the RUF fuel briquettes labelled with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) logo . This is the first time that this product will be included in the production facility's forest management and supply chain certification audit.
The RUF fuel briquettes belong to the company's green energy segment. The fuel briquettes of Segezha Group are made from by-products and waste left over from the main production process exclusively at Vyatsky Plywood Mill, and do not contain any harmful inclusions or substances. The briquettes are also space-efficient and produce more heat than firewood. The production capacity is 15,000 tons/year.
“The success of the audit, which included our newest product, underscores that Vyatsky Plywood Mill is conscientious about undergoing voluntary forest certification and following global forest industry standards. We work in international markets and have an interest in continually confirming our status as a responsible supplier of high-quality products,” says Vera Alpashkina, head of Quality Assurance at Vyatsky Plywood Mill.
Voluntary forest certification under the scheme offered by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC-C084688) is one of the most effective means of supporting sustainable forest management. Having an FSC certificate confirms that the company manufactures products that meet international environmental standards, and that the mill-to-consumer supply chain does not include any timber of dubious origin.
The mill was audited by the Russian office of NEPCon, an authorised auditor within the FSC system.
