UK-based Tilhill Forestry has acquired the business and assets of Duffy Skylining Ltd, a specialist timber harvesting company operating in steep and challenging terrain. The acquisition includes 12 machines, comprising skylines, harvesters, forwarders, and an excavator, and 12 employees, all of whom will be integrated into Tilhill’s existing business and brand. Calum Duffy, founder and owner of Duffy Skylining, will continue to manage and direct operations within the specialist division, according to Tilhill Forestry.

Founded in 2018 and based in Inverness, Duffy Skylining operates primarily along the west coast of Scotland. The company runs three highly skilled harvesting crews and uses advanced skylining techniques to manage complex forest conditions. Its previous projects include work along the A82, a key transport corridor in the Scottish Highlands.

Tilhill Forestry, part of the BSW Group, stated that the acquisition strengthens its steep ground harvesting capabilities and complements recent investment in its core fleet. The company emphasized the value of integrating Duffy Skylining’s technical expertise and equipment to expand its operational capacity in the UK’s most complex forestry environments. Tilhill noted the strong existing relationship between the two businesses and highlighted their shared focus on safety and professionalism.

Calum Duffy described the acquisition as a positive step for both companies and the wider industry, citing the enhanced service offer made possible through the merger of teams and technologies.
