United Kingdom’s wood pellet imports rise 4.8% in 2025

The United Kingdom imported 9.76 million tons of wood pellets in 2025, up 4.8% from a year earlier, while import value rose 8.3% to $2,288 million and the average import price increased 3.4% to $235 per ton, according to Lesprom Analytics.

The United States supplied 74% of the United Kingdom’s wood pellet imports by volume, shipping 7.23 million tons, up 4.2%. Import value from the United States rose 9.8% to $1,740 million and the average price increased 5.4% to $241 per ton, while the U.S. share of supplies fell by 0.4 percentage points.

Latvia supplied 12% of imports, shipping 1.14 million tons, up 26.2%. Import value rose 36.9% to $257 million and the average price increased 8.5% to $225 per ton, while Latvia’s share rose by 2.0 percentage points.

Canada supplied 9% of imports, shipping 903 thousand tons, up 51.2%. Import value rose 44.0% to $181 million, while the average price fell 4.8% to $201 per ton, and Canada’s share increased by 2.9 percentage points.

Estonia supplied 184 thousand tons, up 30.2%, but import value fell 12.6% to $38 million as the average price declined 32.9% to $205 per ton. The Netherlands shipped 74 thousand tons, down 78.9%, with import value down 74.3% to $22 million and the average price up 22.1% to $295 per ton.

Panama shipped 63 thousand tons, up 122.3%, with import value rising 133.1% to $13 million and the average price up 4.9% to $213 per ton. Portugal supplied 68 thousand tons, down 3.2%, with import value down 15.9% to $13 million and the average price down 13.1% to $183 per ton.

Germany shipped 40 thousand tons, down 47.1%, with import value down 46.1% to $11 million and the average price up 1.9% to $267 per ton. Lithuania supplied 16 thousand tons, up 110.5%, with import value rising 115.6% to $4 million and an average price of about $240 per ton, up 2.4%. Belgium shipped 12 thousand tons, down 79.9%, with import value down 74.4% to $3 million and the average price up 27.1% to $233 per ton.
