West Fraser Timber's 2Q adjusted EBITDA increased to $184 million

West Fraser Timber's 2Q 2020 sales were $1,276 million; up 7% on previous quarter. 2Q adjusted EBITDA increased to $184 million.

2Q lumber segment generated operating earnings in the quarter of $66 million and Adjusted EBITDA of $156 million. The improvement was due primarily to higher SYP prices and SPF shipment volumes, partially offset by lower SPF prices.

2Q panels segment generated operating earnings in the quarter of $17 million and Adjusted EBITDA of $20 million. Improved plywood pricing was offset by lower shipment volumes for plywood, MDF, and LVL, resulting in lower overall sales.

West Fraser is a diversified wood products company producing lumber, LVL, MDF, plywood, pulp, newsprint, wood chips, other residuals, and energy with facilities in western Canada and the southern United States.
