The West Virginia Department of Agriculture hosted an inbound trade mission focused on forest products from March 26 to 28, bringing buyers from India and Vietnam to meet companies in the state’s log and lumber industry. The program included site visits to Cherry River Lumber in Richwood, Meadow River Hardwood Lumber in Rainelle, and Laurel Creek Hardwoods in Richwood, along with one-on-one meetings with additional companies before the tours, according to the West Virginia Department of Agriculture.

During the visit, buyers toured log yards and sawmill facilities and observed forestry practices and hardwood supply used by producers. The tours allowed buyers to see how logs are processed into lumber and to review product specifications with mill operators.

Participating companies used the meetings to discuss export requirements and supply details with international buyers. The meetings also allowed companies to present their hardwood products directly to buyers and review potential sales terms. The program resulted in multiple contract awards between participating companies and visiting buyers.
