Finnish index compiler FOEX put on Tuesday the benchmark price of northern bleached softwood pulp at $445.69 per tonne, up from last week's $441.47, and said the price of light-weight coated (LWC) magazine paper had fallen. FOEX calculates the weekly benchmarks based on information from buyers, sellers and agents in the pulp and paper trade. It eliminates the highest and lowest 10 percent of prices, and calculates the indices as the average of the remaining prices. Pulp prices are watched as an indicator of future trends in paper product prices.
