Kruger’s Corner Brook Pulp and Paper will sell excess green energy from its Deer Lake Power assets to Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro. The agreement, which benefits both entities, will better position CBPP to face increasingly challenging conditions in the global newsprint market.

Exports of newsprint from Canada grew 15%.
UPM's businesses and the Paper Workers’ Union have been negotiating for the last two years of the contract period. The business environment has changed significantly since the agreements were signed in 2022, said UPM.
Exports of newsprint from Canada contracted 6%.
The annual capacity of the rebuilt PM 11 can be increased from 400,000 to 520,000 tons.
Final demand prices moved down 0.1% in November and 0.4% in October. On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand rose 1.0% in 2023 after increasing 6.4% in 2022.
U.S. international trade deficit was $90.3 billion in November 2023, up $0.7 billion from $89.6 billion in October. Exports of goods for November were $165.1 billion, $6.2 billion less than October exports. Imports of goods for November were $255.4 billion, $5.5 billion less than October imports.
New orders for U.S.-manufactured goods in October 2023, down following two consecutive monthly increases, decreased $21.8 billion or 3.6% to $576.8 billion.
