May 19, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Shaughnessy Kniep Hawe Paper Co. Inc. announced that it closed on its acquisition of Chicago-based Wade Paper Corp. for an undisclosed amount, St. Louis Business Journal informed.
Shaughnessy will add six Wade Paper employees to its current staff of 150 employees, according to a company spokeswoman. Those employees are part of Wade's support staff and sales force, according to Shaugnessy. It was not disclosed if there are other Wade Paper employees who will be laid off as a result of the deal.
Wade Paper is a resource management company working with major catalog and magazine publishing throughout the country. Kevin Wade, who founded the company in 1986, will continue as president of Wade Paper, which will continue to operate under its current name and remain in its Chicago facility.
Shaughnessy President Ed Kniep IV said in a statement that the acquisition of an experienced distributor serving the catalog and magazine market such as Wade provided an excellent opportunity for Shaughnessy to create an immediate impact in the market.
St. Louis-based Shaughnessy markets paper to commercial printers, corporate users and government agencies. The company has 10 locations in Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Ohio. Shaughnessy's St. Louis headquarters has 60 employees.
