May 24, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Sonoco-Alcore S.a.r.l. will implement a general price increase on all coreboard grades, it was announced on Wednesday, May 24 by James Harrell, chief executive officer, Sonoco-Alcore S.a.r.l. Coreboard prices on the European continent will increase by Euro 30 per tonne and in the United Kingdom by GBP 25 (Euro 36.6) per tonne, effective with shipments on or after June 26, 2006. "The increase is based on continuing increased costs for energy, chemicals and transportation," said Mr. Harrell. "It constitutes the second part of a previously announced two-part pricing initiative. The first was implemented in March 2006 with the stated intent to implement a second part as warranted by raw material and energy costs." Sonoco-Alcore S.a.r.l. is owned by Sonoco and Ahlstrom Corporation. The joint venture operates 39 core and tube plants and six paper mills throughout Europe.
