Sweden’s largest forest owner, Sveaskog initiated collaboration with one of the leading developers of AI for forestry. The cooperation with CollectiveCrunch aims to start feeding data from Sveaskog’s forests into CollectiveCrunch’s artificial intelligence-tool ‘Linda Forest’ in order to improve forest inventories.

Fredrik Klang, Head of Forestry at Sveaskog, says: “Here at Sveaskog, we want to be at the forefront of this development in order to create conditions for both more growth as well as more biodiversity.”

The cooperation with CollectiveCrunch is part of a larger initiative to deploy smart technologies to forestry in Sweden. Sveaskog is looking into various types of AI applications to see how they can be utilized in different ways to make better use of data and to reach a higher degree of automation and more informed decision-making.

“CollectiveCrunch’s artificial intelligence is an interesting technology that could give us a better basis for forest planning. It will be exciting to see the results of the pilot and what performance ‘Linda Forest’ can reach”, says Fredrik Klang.

Jörgen Westman, Forest Technology Manager at Sveaskog, adds that after the initial pilot phase, different applications will be assessed also in relation to each other – which may lead into ground-breaking solutions utilizing AI in ways it never has been before.

The pilot with Sveaskog will be carried out in the operations in Södra Norrland.
