The European Union plans provisional countervailing duties on lightweight thermal paper from China, with rates proposed at 28.8% for Guangdong Guanhao High-Tech Co., Ltd. and 70.5% for all other companies, according to the European Commission.
The duties apply to lightweight thermal paper with a basis weight of 65 g/m2 or less. The product is sold in jumbo rolls at least 20 cm wide, weighing at least 50 kg including paper and measuring at least 40 cm in diameter.
The product scope covers thermal paper with or without base coat on one or both sides, with a physical or chemical thermo-sensitive layer on one or both sides, and with or without top coat.
The proposed provisional duties are expressed on the CIF Union border price before customs duty. The individual examination covered Guanhao Group, but the measure is set for Guangdong Guanhao High-Tech because the group had one producer of lightweight thermal paper.
