A-hus, a Swedish manufacturer of prefabricated single-family houses and part of Derome, has strengthened its position in Sweden’s single-family housing market, achieving a 7.8% market share, the highest in the company’s 80-year history, according to Derome, a Swedish family-owned industrial group active in wood processing, construction, and housing development. This result keeps A-hus in third place among Swedish house suppliers.
Sweden’s single-family home market faces challenges from higher interest rates, stricter lending conditions, and tighter household budgets, while the availability of building plots has decreased and attention to operating costs has grown.
The company notes that the share of first-time buyers is declining, while more people over 55 choose to build new homes when downsizing, creating new demands for flexibility and long-term sustainability.
A-hus has introduced the Flexval concept, allowing customers to customize houses according to personal needs and budgets.
The company reports a strong finish to the year, with sales in the final week of December doubling compared with the first three weeks of the month.
According to A-hus, factors such as stabilizing interest rates, adjusted bank requirements, and stronger household purchasing power are expected to support gradual market recovery in 2026.
