Alkim Kagit San. ve Tic. A.S is installing a runnability improvement system on its second paper machine (PM2) at the Kemalpasa site in Izmir, Turkey, as part of a ramp-up that will bring the mill’s total annual production capacity to 215,000 tonnes, according to the technology supplier Runtech Systems.
The delivery to PM2 includes RunPro EasyOne high-release web stabilizers for the first dryer group. The stabilizers use high-release nozzles fed by RunPro Turbo Compressors to generate vacuum levels at the sheet release point of the top dryers. The system operates without mechanical contact with fabrics and offers adjustable vacuum levels. The RunPro Turbo Compressor supplies compressed air at 0.3 to 0.6 bar, with an integrated variable speed drive that controls the high-speed motor.
Alkim Kagit produces photocopy and offset paper at the Kemalpasa site. PM2 will produce the same paper grades as the existing PM1, which has operated with an EP Turbo Blower since 2016. A RunEco Vacuum System with an EP Turbo Blower was installed at the mill last year. Both machines are covered by a RunCare service agreement.
The project represents the third joint undertaking between Alkim Kagit and Runtech Systems.
