Andritz to supply equipment to Segezha pulp and paper mill for Euro 184.5 million

Dec 09, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Austria’s Andritz and Russia’s Investlesprom CJSC concluded a preliminary agreement on design, manufacturing and delivery of equipment for Segezha pulp and paper mill modernization project and construction of a new pulp mill (White Bear project), as Investlesprom’s press service informed Lesprom Network. The scope of the contract includes basic design of the recovery boiler and wood preparation facility as well as preliminary agreement on delivery of recovery boiler equipment costing Euro 184.5 million. It is supposed that the delivery contract itself will be signed in the third quarter of 2010, while the deliveries will be performed in 2011–2012. Agreements were signed by the Chief Executive of Investlesprom CJSC Dmitriy Maslov and Andritz’s President Wolfgang Leitner on November 24, 2009, in Vienna at the annual conference called ‘Pulp and paper industry in Russia and CIS countries’ held by Adam Smith institute. As Investlesprom’s Technical Development Director of Pulp and Paper division Sergei Malkov reported, since June to October 2009 the companies ran through three stages of technical negotiations with potential suppliers of equipment, tender documentation was prepared. After the tender held in early November Investlesprom chose suppliers for the project. The biggest part of the tender in financial terms was won by Andritz (recovery boiler equipment, including black liquor recovery boiler and multi-fuel boiler, evaporation plant, causticization and lime regeneration facility as well as wood preparation facility equipment). Similar agreements on delivery of fiber facility equipment, including two cooking machines, two fiber lines and a pulp-drying machine costing Euro 124 million were signed on November 17, 2009, in Moscow with top executives of Metso Paper.
