Regional arbitration court and Federal arbitration court ruled the taxes added value, property and profit taxes of RUR 314 736 780 paid by Archbum in 2001-2002 invalid. Interregional tax service N3 checked the operation of the company in 2001-2002 (Archbum is owned by Arkhangelsky pulp and paper enterprise) from April to November 2003. In January 2004 the status report was published. Archbum appealed the results of the report to the court and presented a disagreement protocol to the tax service, which was later declined, head of Archbum legal department Madina Matusevich said. On March, 12 2004 the tax service started a tax evasion procedure against Archbum demanding the payment of RUR 315 685 587 and RUR 14 432 452 fine. Archbum lawyers filed an appealed to Arkhangelsk regional arbitration court which satisfied the appeal. However the tax service managed to fine Archbum RUR 50 196 on added value tax.
