Baltijas Bioenergijas grupa (Latvia) acquired Danish Hansa Graanul Denmark that owns an enterprise in Estonia, and became the 3rd largest enterprise producing granules in Europe, Baltijas Bioenergijas grupa CEO Raymond Freimanis announced. The acquisition of the new enterprise Baltijas Bioenergijas grupa production capacity will increase to 300 thousand tons/yr and will allow to use more efficiently the supplies of raw materials in the Baltic region and sign agreements to supply a total of 50-100 thousand tons of granules/yr to the largest cogeneration stations in Europe, Raymond Freimanis said. Hansa Graanul Denmark was established in 1994 and became the first enterprise to produce chip-granules in the Baltic region with the capacity of 120 thousand tons. BBG was established in 2002, main capital - LVL 770 thousand. 70% of the company's shares are owned by Malenijas Bio Energija and 2 individuals. BBG comprises 2 enterprises working in the sphere of bioenergy and transport. BBG currently owns 3 granule-manufacturing enterprises in Latvia: Gaujas granulas in Riga, Vidzemes granulas in Cesvaine, Zemgales granuals in Iecave. BBG has recently acquired an enterprise in Estonia.
