Bergkvist Siljan AB will permanently cease production at its Mora sawmill by the end of March 2026, citing difficult market conditions and a more than doubling of timber costs over the past five years. The company announced the phase-out to employees, explaining that unused capacity at its other facilities in Insjön and Blyberg makes consolidation necessary. The decision was communicated by Bergkvist Siljan leadership.
Production corresponding to the Mora mill’s output will be increased at the Insjön and Blyberg sites in Sweden. The company will maintain a forestry organization and shared functions in Mora despite the sawmill closure.
CEO Niklas Båtelsson emphasized the company’s focus on supporting affected employees and working closely with unions throughout the process.
