Bergs Timber invests SEK 30 million ($3 million) in Vimmerby sawmill

Bergs Timber invests SEK 30 million ($3 million) in new camera technology for sorting the wood products at its Vimmerby sawmill in Sweden. The investment will take place in the summer of 2020. After the investment, the production will also be focused on pine, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

“The investment provides an increase in capacity and increased flexibility in the choice of products and customers. At the same time, the investment improves the working environment and Vimmerby becomes a modern and efficient sawmill,” says Peter Nilsson.

Bergs Timber acquired Vimmerby sawmill in 2017. At the time of the acquisition, a plan was made for modernization and increased profitability. The first step was implemented in the summer of 2018 when the saw line was replaced, which has had good effects on results and key performance indicators.
