Billerud will install a new headbox on the paper machine at its Gruvön mill in Sweden to increase the strength and quality consistency of its Billerud Flute containerboard product. The investment is designed to improve fiber orientation and sheet uniformity, providing enhanced performance for converters and brand owners. The project is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its position in the premium containerboard segment, according to Billerud.
The rebuild at the Gruvön mill is scheduled for April 2026, with the upgraded Billerud Flute product slated for launch in the second half of that year. The company states the investment supports delivering high-performing, renewable packaging materials that can reduce total cost of ownership and environmental impact for customers.
