Brazilian VCP to open trade office in China in 2007

Dec 04, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Brazilian pulp and paper manufacturer Votorantim Celulose e Papel (VCP) will open a trade office in China in the beginning of 2007, the company said on November 22, 2006, Global 21 reported.
Currently, VCP products are marketed in China via local dealers. China accounts for 16% of the global pulp demand, VCP reminded. Europe accounts for 40% of the world's pulp demand and the USA for 18%.
With the move VCP aims at raising by four times its annual revenue by 2020. In 2005, VCP registered a revenue of $1.1 billion. The company's exports account for 48% of its revenue and presently VCP exports between 25% and 30% of its total annual production to China, or between 250 000 and 300 000 tonnes. VCP also plans to triple its current pulp production of 3.0 million tonnes by 2012.
VCP posted a net profit of BRL 125.6 million ($58 million) for the nine months ended September 2006, up 10.5% year-on-year.
