The value of Brazil's wood-based product exports declined 31% in September 2025 to $218 million, down from $314 million in the same month last year, according to the International Tropical Timber Organization.
This overall downturn was primarily driven by a sharp contraction in the pine plywood sector, which saw its export value fall by 40% to $41 million.
Despite the overall decline, some product categories showed positive growth. Tropical sawnwood exports rose 21% in value to $12.1 million, with volume increasing 11% to 28,600 m3.
Pine sawnwood exports also saw a volume increase of 9% to 207,700 m3, though its value remained nearly flat at $45.4 million.
Conversely, the wooden furniture sector experienced an 8% decrease in export value, falling to $47.1 million.
