Jul 12, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. The annual print run of Bulgarian newspapers in 2005 fell by more than 8 000 copies as compared to 2004 and by more than 130 000 copies compared to 2000, Dnevnik reported citing the National Statistical Institute data.
In 2000, a total of 545 newspapers were printed which made averagely 54 titles per person. In 2005, a total of 423 newspapers were published, which made 40 titles per person.
The sixty dailies in 2005 were the newspapers with the biggest print run of 182 million copies.
In terms of titles, the 183 weeklies had the biggest print run of 103 million copies in 2005.
A total of three newspapers came out twice or thrice a week with a print run of 394 000 copies.
A total of 177 newspapers were published less than once a week. Their print run was more than 241 million copies for 2005, statistic data show.
With books, the number of titles increased at the expense of print run. A total of 5,027 titles with a print run of more than 9.3 million copies were published in 2000. In 2005, a total of 6,029 books with a print run of 3.9 million copies were published.
