The Government of Canada has provided $580 thousand in federal funding to Cecobois through the Green Construction through Wood program, with the funding administered by the Conseil de l’industrie forestière du Québec. The funding will support new projects to document and promote the use of wood to reduce emissions from construction, expand technical knowledge, and disseminate expertise, based on a news release from Natural Resources Canada.

Cecobois plans to use the funding to raise awareness of wood construction and to promote increased use of wood and bio-based insulation materials in non-residential and multi-residential buildings. The projects also aim to promote carbon neutrality in those building types.

Natural Resources Canada is also accepting applications for the Off-Site Construction Challenge, which aims to improve productivity, reduce construction timelines, and enhance building performance through off-site construction approaches that can include mass-timber solutions. The release also cites federal measures introduced since August 2025 totaling more than $2 billion for Canada’s forest sector, including $500 million for the renewal of Natural Resources Canada’s suite of forest sector programs, and states the sector supports nearly 200,000 workers, including over 11,000 Indigenous people, and contributes more than $20 billion to Canada’s GDP.
