Lumber production in Canada decreased 6.6% from May to 3 744.2 thousand cubic metres in June 2023. Production was down 16.8% from June 2022, as Statistics Canada reports.

Sawmills shipped 4 169.2 thousand cubic metres of lumber in June, up 0.3% from May and down 8.2% from June 2022.

According to Lesprom Analytics, in June 2023, Canada decreased exports of lumber to the United States by 14.4% year-on-year. Supplies to China increased by 31.1%, supplies to Japan decreased by 14.4%. The average price of lumber was set at $200.4 per m3.
