Carter Lumber has acquired Gaster Lumber and Hardware, a family-owned building materials supplier with three locations serving the Savannah, Georgia, metro area. The acquisition gives Carter Lumber full coverage across Georgia and extends its coastal presence from Hilton Head to northern Florida.

Gaster Lumber was founded in 1985 and remained a Gaster family-owned business until the transaction. The new locations will operate as part of Carter Lumber's Coastal Carolinas market under Market Vice President Brian Sento, serving professional builders from Wilmington, North Carolina, through northern Florida. The acquisition takes effect immediately with no disruption to customers, according to the company.

Jeff Donley, President and COO of Carter Lumber, stated that Gaster Lumber shares the company's values around relationships and service. Brian Sento added that builder demand for long-term partnership models drove the acquisition, similar to the company's Charleston, South Carolina, expansion last year.

Carter Lumber plans to invest in expanding reach and capacity across the Savannah market.
