Jeff Donley, President and COO of Carter Lumber, said, “Both of these new locations were necessary expansions for our company. With our investment into nearby markets of Atlanta, Charlotte and the Triad, we’ve seen such tremendous growth that we need additional locations for support. These locations give us the ability to continue to be the employer and supplier of choice in the Southeast, which is especially important, considering all the current turmoil in our industry. This is a continuation of our long-term plan for consistent, stable growth. ”
The two new locations will fall under the direction of Vice President Brian Massie, who is responsible for the company’s Southeastern US region. As a full service professional lumberyard, the Powder Springs, GA, location will service builders in the northwestern corridor of the Atlanta Market. Atlanta Market General Manager, Brian Chandler, will oversee operations in Powder Springs along with the rest of the Atlanta market.
The new Atlanta location is the fourth opened by the company in this metropolitan area during the last two years. After adding two new locations in Charlotte over the last year, the new Lexington, NC, facility is being added to provide support to the growing customer base in both Charlotte and the Triad areas. In addition to being a delivery hub for framing components, by 2016, the facility will be producing trusses, wall panels, engineered wood products and millwork on-site for area builders.
Brandon Kujawski, Charlotte Market General Manager, will head this location. The company now has 5 locations servicing the Charlotte and Triad areas. The company expects deliveries to start out of both facilities by October 1st, with the first components being produced in Lexington by March 1, 2016.
“As we have stated in the past, we are going to continue to invest in the Southeast,” said Kip Gleckler, Senior Vice President of Field Operations. He continued, “We invested heavily in Atlanta and Charlotte last year and those investments are paying great dividends for us. We expect the same success for these locations.”
Carter Lumber is one of the nations largest building materials suppliers headquartered in Kent, Ohio. The privately-held, family-owned company has 142 locations across 12 states in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.
