Cascades launches two new moisture barrier boards

May 16, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Contifreeze and Servifreeze are the two new qualities of board manufactured by Cascades Arnsberg, thus expanding Cascades’ existing range of barrier board. These boards were developed in strict adherence to regulatory standards and add a moisture barrier to our current range of boards, thus contributing to the environment with an “all in one concept”. The barrier for both qualities, Contifreeze and Servifreeze, is based on a specific hard sizing treatment (reinforced sizing) in the middle layer in order to limit the penetration of water either through the edges of the carton or through direct contact with the surface. The board is suitable mainly for the packaging of non fatty (pre-packed) foodstuffs, frozen or chilled where there is a risk of condensation. Contifreeze is a fully coated board made of recycled fibres with a white back -GT1-. Servifreeze is a similar barrier product but with a grey back -GD- requiring a reinforced sizing on the back in order to get the same level of moisture barrier, like for Contifreeze. Contifreeze and Servifreeze both offer excellent solutions for high quality packaging for the folding boxes and for the chilled and frozen industry, providing an attractive packaging thanks to its high gloss after varnishing. Cascades S.A. is the European division of the Cascades Group. The Canadian Cascades group has been present in Europe since 1985 and is producing from its four European mills (France, Germany, and Sweden) carton board from virgin and recycled fibres (FBB and WLC), offering a wide range of board for folding cartons for packaging in the food and non-food industry.
