Cathay Forest appointed Dr. Run-Peng Wei as COO

Cathay Forest Products Corp. appointed of Dr. Run-Peng Wei as COO of the Company, effective immediately, the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. Dr. Wei will be responsible for overseeing all of Cathay Forest's forest assets with focus on Fast Growth Plantations and Standing Timber operations in China and Russia as well as for the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification process of Cathay Forest's forestry operations in both countries. In addition, Dr. Wei will oversee the development of the jatropha plantation of Eco-Energy China Group Inc., a company in which Cathay Forest owns a significant equity interest. Dr. Wei holds a PhD in forest genetics from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and has decades of experience in the forestry industry. Over the years, more than 34 papers written by Dr. Wei have been published in scientific journals along with 4 books covering topics including plantation management, ecosystem management and genetics. Most recently, Dr. Wei has been Director-Research & Development for a China-based publicly traded forestry company as well as General Manager of that company's biotechnology operations. Cathay Forest is a forest products company that manages over 1 million hectares of standing timber properties and fast-growth, high-yield poplar plantations in China and Russia.
