CentroWoodKom Ltd, (70% of which belongs to the Polish company Centrozap), will construct a wood processing plant in the Ust-Kulomsky district of Komi worth about 3 billion RUB (approx. $127 million). Production capacity will be 750,000 cubic metres, of which about 250,000 cubic metres will be used for pellets and briquettes, and the rest for saw mill timber, plywood, and components for pre-fabricated wooden houses. The capital cost repayment period is about nine years. It is anticipated that by that time, the level of clear profit by the plant will be about 650 million RUB (approx. 27.5 million) per annum. The profit margin is evaluated at 8%. The company will gain tenancy of an area of 600,000 ha. The project has been included in the list of priority investments in forest management in the Russian Federation, and this gives them the opportunity to cut and develop the forest plots for 49 years, to the extent of 1.84 million cubic metres. The area of forest plots for cutting amounts to 12,300 ha per year.
