Comact Equipment Inc. has introduced a hybrid sawline combining circular saws, bandsaws, and smart technologies to improve operational efficiency for sawmills, especially in the southern U.S. This system offers speed, flexibility, and the capacity to handle a wide range of log diameters, reducing the need for multiple sawlines.
The hybrid sawline integrates double profiling, quadruple circular cutting, and sideboard splitting, enabling diverse lumber production on a single line while reducing operational costs. Simon Potvin, Comact’s President and CEO, emphasized its impact on southern USA mills, stating that the new design allows for handling various log sizes without requiring separate sawlines.
