Dakota County Lumber has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Hamel Building Center, expanding the family-owned dealer's presence into the West Metro area of the Twin Cities. The strategic move will allow the company to better serve builders and remodelers across the broader metropolitan region by integrating Hamel's established Plymouth location and team. The acquisition was announced by Dakota County Lumber leadership.

The addition of the Plymouth facility will enhance the company's logistics network and its ability to provide The Perfect Delivery service to a wider customer base. The Hamel team will work with Dakota County Lumber to ensure a smooth transition for all customers and staff. Operations will continue at the newly acquired site alongside the company's existing Farmington lumberyard and a new central headquarters, which is scheduled to open in the Q1 2026.
