Deal for Midway, B.C. sawmill finalized

Feb 08, 2011. /Lesprom Network/. The board of directors of Boundary Sawmill Inc. has announced that a deal for the purchase of the former Pope & Talbot sawmill in Midway, B.C., has been finalized.
The deal includes a 10-year lease with option to renew with Vaagen Fibre Canada, ULC, an affiliate of Colville (Wash.)-based Vaagen Brothers Lumber, Inc. to operate the mill; purchase of the mill from Fox Forest Products Inc. of Montana (who purchased the mill from a bankrupt Pope & Talbot); and payment of back taxes owed to the Village of Midway. Russ Vaagen said it may be late summer or fall before the mill starts up.
