Dieffenbacher supplies THDF/MDF plant to Far East of Russia
Apr 02, 2007. /Lesprom Network/. Rimbunan Hijau Group headquartered in Sibu Malaysia placed the order at Dieffenbacher GmbH + CO.KG for the engineering and supply of a complete THDF/MDF production plant. The new plant location will be nearby Khabarovsk, in the Far East of Russia.
Since more than 10 years Subur Tiasa Particleboard Sdn. Bhd. a subsidiary of Rimbunan Hijau Group is successfully operating a particle board plant in Malaysia with a Dieffenbacher single-opening pressing system. This very good long term relationship in combination with the latest successful high speed THDF and MDF solutions proved convincing to select Dieffenbacher as main supplier. Another decisive argument was the availability of experts and service teams in Europe, Asia and especially in Russia to support this new project.
Dieffenbacher's scope of supply comprises the debarking, chipping, cleaning, refining, drying, gluing, forming and press installations, raw board handling and storage system, finish panel production with sanding and cut to size line including de-dusting and the complete control system.

- 54″ Refiner system
- Single stage flash dryer and air grader
- Accurate mat forming system for wide thickness range and high line speeds
- Continuous CPS press, 24 m in length and a designed line speed of 1.500 mm/s
- Raw board handling and storage system for up to 4m stack height 8-head Sanding and cut to size line for various finished board sizes
The plant is designed to produce THDF/MDF boards in thickness range from 1,5 to 38 mm at a width of 2.440 mm with an initial annual production capacity of more than 150.000 m³/year.
The Rimbunan Hijau Group is harvesting and processing timber in many countries of the world, including Russia. The company name Rimbunan Hijau is translated as “Evergreen” and should symbolize the fact that the companies goal is not only the management of natural resources, but also their conservation. Rimbunan Hijau got the right to long term lease and management of forest ranges in the Khabarovsk region. For further economical and social development of this forest rich region the local government is stimulating the development of value added wood processing industry. Because of these conditions Rimbunan Hijau decided to install a new MDF plant to increase the operation profitability and create a number of new jobs. The finished products will be supplied to the local furniture industry and also exported to the close Asia Pacific markets like Japan, Korea and China.
This project is bound to have good prospects, as it will be the first MDF plant in the Far East of Russia using the latest continuous press technology. According to project schedule delivery will start beginning of next year and production start is expected end of 2008.
