Between April and June 2025, Finland’s energywood purchases totaled 1.2 million m3, marking a 50% decline from the same period last year and a 25% drop compared to the five-year average. Two-thirds of the volume consisted of logging residues, while delimbed stems accounted for one quarter, according to Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).
In standing sales, the nationwide average price of logging residues rose 15% from the previous quarter to Euro 16.22/m3, while delimbed stems fell 8% to Euro 22.83/m3. In delivery sales, logging residues averaged Euro 31.01/m3, down 2%, and delimbed stems remained unchanged at Euro 45.82/m3.
For the first half of 2025, purchases were 40% lower than a year earlier. Logging residues trade fell by nearly 40%, and delimbed stems dropped by one-third. Compared to the five-year average, total purchases decreased 6%, with logging residues holding steady but delimbed stems contracting by nearly 25%.
