Purchases of industrial roundwood from privately owned forests in Finland in January 2026 were 25% lower than a year earlier, and 10% below the average for the previous five years, based on figures released by the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).

In standing sales, the average price paid for spruce sawlogs was Euro 77.20 per m3 and for pine sawlogs Euro 73.17 per m3, both 1% lower than in December. Birch sawlogs fell 1% to Euro 58.21 per m3. From last June’s peak levels, the average prices of pine and birch sawlogs were down Euro 11, and spruce sawlogs were down nearly Euro 9.

Standing-sale pulpwood prices also fell in January. Pine pulpwood dropped 10% to Euro 21.61 per m3, spruce pulpwood fell 7% to Euro 24.36 per m3, and birch pulpwood declined 4% to Euro 22.88 per m3. The figures show pulpwood prices have fallen by about Euro 12–13 since June, with pine pulpwood down nearly 38% over seven months and spruce and birch pulpwood down roughly one third.

In delivery sales, pulpwood prices declined as well: pine pulpwood fell 5% to Euro 41.12 per m3, spruce pulpwood fell 6% to Euro 42.83 per m3, and birch pulpwood fell 3% to Euro 42.05 per m3, each about Euro 12–13 below last summer’s peak levels.
