HELSINKI, Nov. 6, 2001 (Reuters) - Finnish index compiler FOEX on Tuesday put the benchmark price of northern bleached softwood pulp at $465.43/tonne, up from last week's $464.48/tonne, and said the price of lightweight coated (LWC) magazine paper also inched up. FOEX calculates the weekly benchmarks based on information from buyers, sellers and agents in the pulp and paper trade. It eliminates the highest and lowest 10 percent of prices, and calculates the indices as the average of the remaining prices. The index compiler, which tracks pulp and paper prices on the European market, gave the following figures: PIX INDEXES Price / tonne Nov. 6, 2001 Oct. 30, 2001 PULP NBSK (dollars) 465.43 464.48 BHK (euros) 466.02 466.00 BHK (dollars) 420.55 416.09 PAPER Newsprint (euros) 613.33 612.32 Newsprint (dollars) N/A* 524.65 LWC (euros) 815.64 815.41 Coated woodfree reels (euros) 848.61 845.39 A4 B copy (euros) 987.89 986.95 Notes: Pulp prices are seen as a good indicator of future trends in paper product prices.
