Finnish roundwood removals down 14% in November

In November 2023, a total of 5.3 million cubic metres of roundwood was harvested for industrial use in Finland. Compared to last year's November, the removal volume was 14% lower. In January-November, a total of 53.6 million cubic metres of industrial wood was harvested. This removal volume was down 7% from the five-year average, according to the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke).

Sawlogs accounted for 2.6 million cubic metres and pulpwood for 2.7 million cubic metres of the industrial roundwood removals.

Industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests were 4.1 million cubic metres, down by 15% from the year before.

The removal volume in forest industry companies’ forests and state-owned forests was 1.1 million cubic metres, down by 8% from the year before.

Energywood removals totalled 383,000 cubic metres, with delimbed stems and whole trees comprising 63% of this amount.
