First double-certified wood from Södra members

Jul 27, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Södra has now received FSC certification for member forestry, which is a key step towards being able to offer customers FSC certified products. Many members have advised interest in affiliation to Södra’s group FSC certificate, the company reported.
“It is pleasing that there is such a high level of interest in double certification under both FSC and PEFC. Around a hundred notifications of interest have already come into each forestry district. Agreements are being signed on an ongoing basis, but we’re prioritising members who have wood to deliver and/or who wish to sign new contracts to make sure no one misses the certification premium on their deliveries,” says Urban Eriksson, head of Södra Skog.
When harvesting recommences after the summer break the first double-certified wood from Södra members will be delivered to Södra mills.
“Double certification benefits our members as well as our mills. It makes it easier for members to sell their wood at the same time as it helps meet market demand,” says Urban Eriksson.
