The German Producer Price Index for logging products (excluding VAT) in January 2023 was 113.7 (2015 = 100), or 0.5% higher than in the previous month and 20.7% higher than in the corresponding one month of the previous year, according to the Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Statistisches Bundesamt).
From December 2022 to January 2023, producer prices for logs and log cuts fell by an average of 0.4% (oak logs -0.4%, beech logs -0.4%, spruce -0.5%, Douglas fir -0.6% ; against: pine +0.4%).
Producer prices for industrial wood rose by an average of 2.3% (softwood +5.8%; on the other hand: hardwood -2.4%). Firewood prices increased by 0.8% month-on-month (hardwood +0.6%, softwood +3.8%). Energy wood prices increased by 10.6% compared to the previous month (hardwood +1.5%, softwood +15.2%).
