Jun 01, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Graphic Packaging Corporation announced that it plans to close its Centralia, Illinois Laminations facility in the third quarter of 2005. Production and equipment will be moved to more cost-effective facilities in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee and Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Cost savings are anticipated to be more than $3 million annually. Approximately 30 employees will be affected by this shutdown.
"Our focus on lowering costs and improving operating efficiencies is a necessity in our business today," commented President and Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Humphrey. "The closure of this facility, while regrettable, is consistent with our efforts to reduce our operating costs and consolidate our manufacturing platforms to fewer and larger plants."
