Grupo Gondi (Mexico) invests in BOBST F&K 90SIX preprint press

Nov 16, 2012. /Lesprom Network/. Bobst Bielefeld (formerly Fischer & Krecke) announced the sale of a 2.2 m wide BOBST F&K 90SIX CI preprint flexo press and peripherals to Grupo Gondi (Mexico). First introduced in 2003 and constantly further developed, the 90SIX is the highest-performance central impression flexo press for preprinted linerboard and coated boxboard applications worldwide, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. Grupo Gondi is one of the top players in the Mexican paper and packaging market with over 58 years of experience in the industry. The activities of the seven companies that form the group include the production of semikraft and coated paper, corrugated and pre-printed boxes, solid fibre containers, laminated and folding carton containers. The F&K 90SIX features exactly the same technologies as BOBST’s most advanced compact presses for flexible packaging, including all the same gains in efficiency and flexibility. Carbon fibre mandrels and specially developed auxiliary equipment allow for fastest change-overs, even with the largest repeats of up to 2'060 mm and the widest working widths. Together with the new press, Grupo Gondi has purchased smartGPS(TM), BOBST’s unique technology for impression and registration setting. The ground breaking concept of this technology is to do the set-up offline during mounting stage instead of in the press, thereby reducing waste of substrate and time close to zero. This means not only a vast cost saving potential, but at the same time opens doors to new markets as even the smallest orders can still be produced efficiently. The F&K 90SIX delivers printed images close to offset quality, at high speeds up to 500 m/min.
