In 2023, the U.S. multilayered wood flooring imports contracted to 571 million square feet, marking a 25% decrease from 2022's 761.7 million square feet. Concurrently, the total import value witnessed a downturn, settling at $934.3 million, a 28% reduction from the previous year's $1.3 billion, the Decorative Hardwoods Association cited information from the U.S. International Trade Commission.

A stark illustration of this trend is the dramatic decrease in imports from China, which not only saw a 48% plunge in volume to 72 million square feet but also experienced a 49.3% drop in value, falling from $203.4 million to $103.2 million.

Vietnam and Cambodia, while also facing declines, have emerged as substantial contributors to the U.S. market. Vietnam's imports decreased by 23.9% in volume to 159.2 million square feet and 27% in value to $226 million. Cambodia followed a similar trend with a 24% reduction in volume and a 26% decrease in value.

Notably, Canada presented a counter-trend, with a remarkable 50.8% increase in volume to 38.9 million square feet, although its value saw a more modest adjustment.
