Ingka Group, the primary retailer of IKEA, inaugurated new stores in Riddes, Switzerland, and Xi'an, China, as part of its strategy to expand globally. This initiative includes plans to establish additional customer meeting points worldwide this year.

The new IKEA store in Riddes, which opened its doors Wednesday, is designed with sustainability in mind, featuring a zero-waste approach and solar power. It is the tenth IKEA store in Switzerland, which has been a market for the company for over five decades.

The opening in Xi'an introduces both the IKEA Xi’an Yanta store and a Livat meeting place. Managed by Ingka Centres, the Livat location hosts around 400 shops that combine retail, dining, and entertainment, aiming to create a community-focused environment.

Tolga Öncu, Ingka Retail Manager, shared that these openings are aligned with the company’s shift towards integrating their physical and digital presence to enhance the overall customer experience.

Cindy Andersen, Managing Director of Ingka Centres, views China as a critical market for expansion and innovation within the group.

Further growth in China will see more Livat centers and the debut of the first IKEA plan and order point in Shenzhen later this year.
