On may 15, 2007 meeting of Russian-Chinese parliamentary commission on cooperation took place in Beijing (China), press service of governor administration of Irkutsk region reported. Foreign trade ties of enterprises remains the base of cooperation between China and Irkutsk region. According to Irkutsk region governor Alexander Tishanin, China has been main trade partner of Irkutsk region for many years. There are 152 organizations registered in Irkutsk region with 100% or minority Chinese interest. The main fields of activity are commercial sector, logging and wood-processing, and other. “I would like to emphasize one more that Irkutsk region is interested in development and advance of all-round cooperation with China and fits necessary conditions for it”, Tishanin noted. According to Tishanin, the more perspective is development in following directions: creation in Irkutsk region joint ventures engaged in wood-processing and mills using wood waste for production of parquet paneling from knots, laminated flooring, parquet, paper.
