Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte have met Italian manufacturers of wood machinery at Lesdrevmash trade fair in Russia. “Definitely a period of great excitement and satisfaction: in the long history of our industry, this is the first time a Prime Minister has visited us at an exhibition where Italian technology meets the global markets”, said Dario Corbetta, director of Acimall, the association of Italian manufacturers of wood and furniture machinery, commented the unexpected and much appreciated visit by the Italian premier Giuseppe Conte who, during his busy agenda in Russia on October 23 and 24, managed to find the time to reach the Expocenter fairgrounds to visit Lesdrevmash.

Mr. Conte was welcome by Acimall's vice president Raphaël Prati, who greeted him on behalf of all industry companies. Prati reminded the importance of the big “family” of the Italian mechanical industry in terms of turnover and export, as well as for the contribution it offers to one of Italy's greatest excellencies, namely the furniture industry that brings prestige to our country. “Our industry – Prati continued – includes big world-class groups as well as many small entrepreneurs who pursue success through innovation. With the support of the Ice agency, we can deploy our strengths on a global scale, securing a leading role at every exhibition and event. Prati concluded by reminding the need for business people to be constantly supported by institutions, in order to consolidate their success and guarantee future growth.

Mr. Conte, who talked to many Italian exhibitors, stressed the importance of export for Italian economy, reaffirming the competitiveness of our country driven by the innovative capacity of several industries, including the woodworking and furniture production, which represent excellent examples on a global scales. “Thank you so much”, Conte said. “As prime minister I am very proud of this and I really believe there should be a joint effort by government, institutions and businesses to team up and ensure that Italy plays the role it deserves in the technological and industrial domain”.
