Italy is one of the leading global producers of woodworking and furniture machinery. In 2025, the country’s production of machines and technologies for wood and wood-based materials reached Euro 2.168 billion, down 10.4% compared to 2024, according to Acimall.

Exports amounted to Euro 1.458 billion, decreasing by 13.9%, while sales on the domestic market totaled Euro 710 million, 2% lower than in the previous year. Imports increased to Euro 240 million, up 5.3% from 2024.

Apparent consumption stood at Euro 950 million, a slight decrease of 0.3% compared to Euro 953 million in 2024. The trade balance reached Euro 1.218 billion, down 16.9% from the previous year.

Acimall indicated that these preliminary figures reflect a normalization following three years of growth between 2021 and 2023, when production rose from Euro 1.848 billion in 2020 to Euro 2.650 billion in 2023, an all-time record for the sector.

The association emphasized that the Italian market remains a key destination, with domestic sales of Euro 710 million in 2025 supporting a total demand close to Euro 1 billion, one of the largest regional markets in the global flow of wood technologies.
